PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN – Geeks on a Beach (GOAB) held its press conference at the Asturias Hotel, Puerto Princesa on June 16, 2017 with City of Puerto Princesa Mayor Luis M. Marcaida III, Department of Information and Communications Technology Undersecretary Monchito Ibrahim, President of Philippine Software Industry Association of the Philippines and CEO of Spring PH Jonathan de Luzuriaga, Chairman and President of Palaweño ICT Association, Inc, Erwin Edualino, Executive Director of Palaweño ICT Association, Inc and Founder of Geeks On A Beach and TechTalks.ph Tina Amper to formally announce Geeks On A Beach’s 5th Year in Puerto Princesa and to inform the public why it is still important to bring together the movers and shakers of the startup, tech and creative world.
Geeks on a Beach (GOAB) is an annual international conference for everyone who is passionate about startups, technology, design, and making the world a better place is celebrating its 5th year at Princesa Garden Island Resort and Spa, Puerto Princesa, Palawan on August 24-25, 2017.
“The Philippines has so many talents. Geeks On A Beach allows those technology-driven people to come together and learn about the latest technology. The point of doing the conference is not just to do a conference. I want to bring that “can do” attitude to the world.” said Tina Amper when being asked why the conference is very important in the Philippines.
Geeks On A Beach is expected to gather hundreds of technology entrepreneurs and professionals along with concerned government agencies to also look at ways of leveraging technology to help address Philippine social and environmental problems.
Geeks On A Beach has partnered with the City of Puerto Princesa in Palawan. Known for its environmental advocacy, the city is the location of the world-famous Underground River and Tubbataha Reef.
According to Hon. Luis M. Marcaida III GOAB will become a platform for Puerto Princesa to meet the whole world and know what is Palawan.
“Geeks On A Beach is composed of tech-based people from all over the world and we would like to promote Palawan that while we are in paradise, we are also techy people coping up with the demands of the city”, Mayor Marcaida III added.
